Course - Refresher

The half day course is ideal for drivers who have some experience but need to improve their manoeuvring skills or, are perhaps, changing to a different kind of vehicle and simply need a ´refresher´. The course consists of on-road awareness training and realistic manoeuvring exercises.

For the full day course, individuals have more opportunity to hone their advanced driving skills and increase their awareness of the road environment.

  • Licence requirements

    You will need Category B on your licence.

    You must be 21 or older.

    You must have had your driving licence for at least 2 years.

    Please note that anyone who passed a car-driving test on or after 1st January 1997 will not have category D1 on their licence. This is the category required to legally drive a minibus on the public roads.

    Prior to gaining your D1 Category you will have to undertake a Medical and apply for a Provisional Licence, you will then have to pass your theory and hazard perception test. Once completed you are then ready to take your D1 Course and DVSA D1 Test.

    Medical

    Drivers of passenger carrying vehicles (PCV), including minibuses, have to satisfy a higher medical standard than car drivers.

    Take along a D4 Form for your GP to complete and with your completed D2 Form, send off to the DVLA.

    If you are uncertain on where to obtain the relevant forms or are having any problems filling them out, please don’t hesitate to contact us or call us on 08004346238.

    We can send all the relevant forms right to you or offer advice if you may need it.

    Practical Test

    The test lasts approximately 75mins and consists of:

    • Meeting the examiner;
    • show me tell me questions;
    • reversing exercise;
    • on-road driving.

    *Must have your licence with you to take your test otherwise it will be forfeited.
